Today’s WordPress Bloganuary prompt is “Why do you write?”
Forbes lists one reason to write is to clear your head. For myself, there are multiple reasons why I write. I do it to express myself, to connect with others, to educate and empower others, and to monetize my content. Read on for more detailed reasons why I write.
4 Reasons Why I Write
1) To express myself.
First of all, I write to express myself.
For as long as I can remember, I have been journalling. Then came Xanga, LiveJournal, and Tumblr. And eventually, the world of WordPress and self-hosting my own blog.
No matter what platform or medium I use, the main reason why I write is to express myself. It has always been an outlet for my thoughts, my ideas, and even my concerns. Essentially, writing helps me deal with daily stresses and struggles.
2) To connect with others.
To add onto my previous point, expressing myself helps me connect with others. This includes my readers and fellow bloggers.
Since starting my blog, I have made so many friends with other bloggers. I have found my little niche of beauty and lifestyle bloggers. Through Facebook, I found a group of bloggers who support each others’ growth. On Twitter and Instagram, I have found others who like and promote each others’ posts.
3) To educate and empower others.
Besides writing to connect with others, I hope that my content educates and empowers my readers. I write to educate others from public health issues to skincare benefits.
Additionally, I hope my content empowers others to be the best version of themselves. It took my years to overcome my anxiety and gain self-confidence. And I hope that the life experiences I share help my readers achieve that.
4) To monetize my content.
Finally, I write to monetize my content. I would be lying if I didn’t say I write to make money.
Blogging first started out as a hobby for me. Over time, I realized how lucrative it could be. Although I’m not at the level of being a full-time blogger making six figures, I would like to start with this blog as a side hustle.
So if you see affiliate links in my posts, you know why. I’m just another girl trying to make extra income through something I enjoy doing.
Conclusion of Why I Write
To recap, there are a few reasons why I write. The first reason is to express myself. Next, I create content to connect with others. On top of that, I hope my content educates and empowers my readers. And finally, I write to make a side hustle.
