We are on day four of WordPress’s Bloganuary challenge. Today’s prompt is “What is a treasure that’s been lost?”
While others got deep and talked about abstract concepts such as communication and courtship, I thought about material items. Items that aren’t much in value, but are treasured by me. Such as a compact mirror that my mom gave me in middle school.
But I wanted to take it to the next level. So I’m going to reveal my nerdy side and revel in art history and culture. And I will share six movies about a treasure that has been lost.

1) Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The first movie about a lost treasure is Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It was released in 1975 but takes place in 10th-century England. The film is about the mythical King Arthur and his knights on the quest for the Holy Grail. According to History.com, the Holy Grail is the cup from which Jesus drank wine during the Last Supper. If you enjoy dry, sarcastic British humor, I would recommend Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
2) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Next, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is a film about a lost treasure. More specifically, the Holy Grail. But it’s not as satirical as Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The film was directed by Stephen Spielberg and stars Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. In the film, the title character pursues the Holy Grail in the year 1938. Meanwhile, he finds himself fighting Nazis for the same lost treasure.
3) The Goonies
Then, there’s The Goonies. This 80s classic is another film from the mind of Stephen Spielberg. The Goonies stars actors in their early days such as Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, and Jeff Cohen. It tells the story of a group of misfits hunting for a legendary pirate’s long-lost treasure. Believe it or not, but parts of the pirate ship in The Goonies were actually recycled and reused for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland.
Conclusion of Movies About a Treasure That Has Been Lost
Today’s Bloganuary prompt was about a treasure that has been lost. I couldn’t think of anything specific. So I listed three movies that came to mind. And they all had a similar theme – going on an adventure to find a lost treasure. The three films that came to my mind were Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Indiana Jones and the Lost Crusade, and The Goonies. But there are so many other movies about a treasure that has been lost.
Can you think of other movies about a treasure that has been lost?
Let me know in the comments and I’ll add it to my watchlist!
